It is believed that the agricultural area in which he was raised was the site of a secret (and less than rigourous) nuclear weapons development site. Samarovich used his powers as a local bully and show-off until he was located and inducted into the N.Y.E.T. programme. He has buckled somewhat to the discipline of military life, but is aware of his unique value to the programme. He will push back at the authorities as much as he thinks he can get away with, often dissappearing for several days on a drinking and partying binge in the backstreets of Moscow.
