He can project radiation as a focussed gamma beam or a short range burst of alpha particles. He is also immune to the effects of further radiation poisoning now. Threat Level: 5 Colonel Artem Cherenkov was one of the first pilots to participate in the early Soviet space programme during the cold war. Officially, he died during his first mission - in actual fact he suffered an unusual accident in the Van Allen belts that triggered a severe metabolic change in the unfortunate cosmonaut. Cherenkov decided to let his young family believe that he had died, and to try to use his tragic condition for the good of his country. He was instrumental in starting up the seminal N.Y.E.T. programme to gather newly emerging 'superhumans' together under military guidance for service in the cold war.
