Mme. Hydra P2 P3 P6 Sketches Triumph

Pencilled this one just for fun one day in 2005, and got four panels in. The basic story here is that Viennese "art criminal" Demian Triumph, the most handsome man in the world, has kidnapped the Challengers with the intention of marrying Optical Girl in a bizarre ceremony. The other three Challengers are being kept in special devices to neutralise their powers, and carried around by Triumph's "Figurine" robots. Spark's in some electrostatic thingy (with what looks like a lawnmower engine on the top), the volcanic Rocky is in a freezing device of some kind. Optical Girl's got loose and on the run in her wedding dress, and finds some kind of mirror device. The twist would be that Triumph shows her his captivating mutant face (which makes anyone who sees it fall in love with him) but she turns optical and shuts her eyes, causing him to see himself in the mirror and instantly become insane in the narcissistic feedback loop. All of this would have been alluded to in the Strangers 2, in the "96% Love" arc, where an insane Demain Triumph causes chaos.

"Triumph, you fool! What do you hope to achieve with this insane spectacle! And everyone else, stop showboating !" Ahh, Doc, don't go changing! The living liquid genius Doc Sensation in a giant blender. I have a sneaking suspicion that this was drawn shortly after I discovered that Frank Quitely's first commercial job was drawings for an appliance catalogue. I love drawing household appliances and people!
